We’re pleased to share that Glencairn Abbey has returned to Instagram with a renewed presence. You can now find us at @cisterciannuns, where we’ll be posting reflections from our life as Cistercian nuns: the rhythm of prayer and work, the beauty of the liturgy, and moments of stillness and simplicity from within the abbey.

Our monastic life is shaped by The Rule of St Benedict, which invites us to walk the path of daily conversion with patience and humility:

“Let them prefer nothing whatever to Christ, and may he bring us all together to everlasting life.”
— Rule of St Benedict, 72:11–12

As Cistercian monk Fr Michael Casey wrote,

“Vocation is not the fulfilment of personal ambition, but a call to lose oneself in order to find oneself in Christ.”
