St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn Building Project

The planning phase of our building project to renovate the monastery buildings and facilities here at St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn, culminated in late 2011 with planning permission granted by local authorities for the renovation of the Abbey and the provision of much needed new facilities to continue to offer monastic hospitality to our day and residential guests.

The sisters had been engaged in a process of consultation and planning for the community’s future needs for the past number of years. Planning approval has opened the way to the current fundraising phase of the project.

An online facility to enable those who wish to make a donation to the St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn Building Fund has been set up to make donations directly to the fund through this website.
For more information about the St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn Building Project and to make a donation please visit our new building project page here on our website where you can see The Story of St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn on DVD, introducing our way of life and outlining our present needs as we look towards the future.

We will be posting additional updates here on our website over the coming months with news of further developments as the project progresses.

The sisters greatly appreciate the prayers and support of all our friends of St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn and for the successful completion of this project.

We are indebted to all our benefactors, living and deceased, for their generous financial support of this Abbey. They are continually remembered in the prayers of the community.
