Opening of our New Abbey Guesthouse

WE are delighted to announce the opening of our new Abbey Guesthouse here at Glencairn. This phase of our building project began in December 2018 with the demolition of buildings adjacent to the old guesthouse building opposite the church to make way for our new guesthouse. Construction ended in January 2020 and the sisters began furnishing and making preparations for our first guests.

This new building accommodates our reception area for everyone who comes to the Abbey, a function room for groups, small parlours for sisters to visit with  guests, a guest refectory and six en suite bedrooms for resident guests. We offer  five single bedrooms and one double bedroom facilitating couples who wish to stay. Our double bedroom is fully accessible. A lift from the ground floor takes resident guests to their bedrooms where there is also a private oratory provided for personal prayer.

All our guests are welcome to join the community for the celebration of the eucharist and the liturgy of the hours and the beauty of the natural surroundings at the Abbey ensure quiet and peace for a reflective stay, with walks through the fields and by the river Blackwater that runs through our 200 acre property.

We are so grateful to all who helped to fund this project and we hope it will be source of blessing to our guests who come and stay at Glencairn. We are also grateful to our volunteers who have been a wonderful aid in making preparations to open and to extend our welcome to our visitors.

If you wish to make a booking, please contact Sr Mairéad by email at guesthouse@glencairnabbey.org or by phone at +353 (0)58 56168. We look forward to welcoming you to Glencairn!
