Lismore Choir at Glencairn
On the evening of Saturday 11th January, we were delighted to welcome another visit by the Lismore choir, who upheld a long standing tradition of sharing some highlights from their Christmas programme with the Community. This year’s recital featured both traditional and less well known music, including excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, a unique piece by John Rutter (who had the Caribbean in mind) and a very unusual, folksy setting of the familiar carol ‘I saw Three Ships come sailing.’ When asked to choose a favourite, there was little consensus among the Sisters but all agreed that the choice of hymns and sacred music, ably explored by the wonderfully enthusiastic conductor and amplified by the acoustics of the church, made for a truly enjoyable and uplifting experience.
