February 2nd
Just yesterday we celebrated the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This feast day recalls the prophecy of Simeon in the Temple, who recognised the child Jesus as “a light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory for your people Israel.” It is no coincidence that the Church places World Day of Consecrated Life on this date, a day so deeply marked by the imagery of light, offering and total gift.
May we continue to pray for vocations, for perseverance, and for joy among those who have consecrated their lives to God. And may we never forget that when a life is fully offered to Him, it becomes a light the world desperately needs
Last weekend, leading up to this feast, we welcomed a group of young women, together with Sister Caitriona OP and Sister Mary Magdalen OP of the Dominicans of St Cecilia missioned in Limerick. This group, under the guidance of the Sisters and with the support of the Bishops, meet together each month to learn more about discerning consecrated and Religious life and to pray together. They had a retreat here and met with two of our Sisters for a Question and Answer session; asking deep questions of the heart, as well as sharing in great laughter and joy!
Let us continue to pray that Christ will enlighten their paths and that they may delight in Him.
