Retirement!

Nellie & Gerry O’Donovan – Marking a Well-Earned Retirement

Recently at Glencairn, we had a small get-together with Nellie and Gerry O’Donovan and their family to mark their retirement. It was simple–tea, conversation, a few stories and some beautiful singing–and a chance to say thank you!

Nellie worked for many years in our Eucharist bread department and brought great patience and steadfastness to a hectic workload.

Her contribution to this part of the Abbey’s work has been significant, and we are very grateful.

Gerry worked on the farm and in maintenance — and there wasn’t much he couldn’t turn his hand to. He also brought a great sense of humour to the job. There was always a quick remark or dry comment that kept things in perspective!

Between them, Nellie and Gerry have given years of solid, reliable work to our Cistercian community. We wish them every happiness in retirement and thank them sincerely for all they have done for us.
