Lismore Conversations: Monastic Vows as a Prophetic Sign
Last evening at the Lismore Heritage Centre, the Lismore Conversations series continued its commitment to thoughtful public dialogue with a presentation titled Monastic Vows: A Prophetic Sign.
The talk was given by Sr Laura, a junior nun here at Glencairn, with Sr. Marie also present to help lead the question-and-answer session. Their participation was a rare public engagement for us, but with the hope of supporting our local community and sharing something of our life with the group.
In her presentation, Sr Laura reflected on monastic vows as a living witness, pointing to a life grounded in listening, simplicity, and trust in God.
Lismore Conversations, hosted at the Lismore Heritage Centre, offers a forum where speakers and participants can engage in considered dialogue on questions that matter. By bringing contemplative voices into a public setting, the series creates a bridge between monastic life and the wider community, renewing an ancient tradition of conversation marked by depth, respect, and care.
