You may have been thinking about religious life for a while.

Perhaps the thought of becoming a nun keeps coming back. Perhaps you have a real desire to give your life to Christ, but you don’t know what that would actually look like. Or perhaps you have wondered whether you could really live a life of prayer.

You don’t need to have it all worked out.

If you think the Lord may be calling you to monastic life, come and experience it for yourself.

At Glencairn, our Vocation Weekends give you the opportunity to spend several days living alongside the Cistercian community and getting a sense of what this life might be like.

You will pray and work with us.
You will have time for silence and personal prayer.
You will meet the sisters and hear about their own vocation journeys and the Cistercian way.

What is Cistercian life really like?

Life at Glencairn is centred on Christ.

Our days are ordered around the prayer of the Church, with the Eucharist, the Liturgy of the Hours, Lectio Divina and personal prayer at the heart of our life. Alongside prayer there is work, study, community life, silence, solitude, ordinary responsibilities, and all the small, often hidden things that make up a life given to God.

There was a memorable campaign around women in sport built on a simple idea: “She cannot be what she cannot see.” Maybe that slogan helps with religious vocation too!
