Monastic Experience Weekend 9 – 11 October, 2020
Experience monastic life for a weekend
We welcome women who are discerning God’s call to visit Glencairn Abbey for guidance. Our newly built guesthouse can accommodate up to four people following HSE guidelines during the Covid-19 pandemic and you can make a booking to stay for a number of days if you would like to experience monastic life here at close hand as you make your discernment.
Monastic Experience Weekends are also a good way to be introduced to Cistercian life and how it is lived at Glencairn. Bring a friend if you would like and experience the rhythm of monastic life with our balance of prayer, work, contemplation and community life. Meet a sister for spiritual direction. Take some quiet time in the Abbey Church in between our times of liturgical prayer and in nature for a prayerful encounter with God.
Who can participate?
This weekend is designed for single women who are discerning whether God is calling them to monastic life. The emphasis will be on learning to listen for God’s call in your life and to learn about Cistercian life at Glencairn. You can read more about Monastic Experience Weekends here on our website.
Directions to the Abbey can be found here on our website. To those who are relying on public transport to travel to Glencairn we can offer private transport to the monastery if pre-arranged.
