Sister Scholastica’s Solemn Profession

04 May 2010

News Story Image

On the 1st May, 2010, Feast of Saint Joseph the Worker, we celebrated the Solemn Monastic Profession of Sister Scholastica Kallarackal, ocso.  Sister Scholastica has been with us since 2007, having entered and made her first profession in the Cistercian monastery of Makkiyad, India in 2002.  It was a deeply joyful day for her and for all of our community here at Glencairn as she received the monastic cowl and made her final vows of stability, obedience and conversion in the monastic way of life.
At the blessing in our Abbey church, Mother Marie Fahy, Abbess of Glencairn received her petition and Dom Michael Ahern ocso, Abbot of Mount Melleray Abbey consecrated her.  Each sister then gave her an embrace of welcome as a fully professed member of the community of Saint Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn.  Some of her friends were able to join with us in praying for her and celebrating with us here on a very special day for all.
