Glencairn Abbey Building Project Progress

We are happy to announce that phase two of the Glencairn Abbey Building Project has begun. On Monday, March 9th O’Gorman Construction Ltd took possession of the north wing of the Abbey buildings to begin work on this new stage of our project.

Works will include the demolition of the north wing of the monastery and the construction of a new building in its place to provide more adequate housing for the community’s living needs.

The project began in June 2014 and concluded its first phase in February 2015, providing new services to the monastery – heating, water, drainage – together with the superb renovation of one of our outbuildings to accommodate our Card Department.

A storage shed to house our Miscanthus crop, the biofuel we are producing on our farm to heat our monastery, has been most recently constructed in our outlying farm area.

The community continue to live, pray and work at the Abbey. We also continue to grow together in our reduced circumstances! We look to the future and to the completion of our new accommodation wing with great anticipation.

If you wish to make a donation to our Building Project, you can do so safely through our website, please see our homepage for details. Thank-you.
