Coffee Morning Fundraiser for Glencairn Abbey Building Project, 17 Sept 2016
The Causeway Tennis and Bowling Club in Abbeyside, Dungarvan was the warm and welcoming venue kindly offered for this fundraising event in aid of our continuing Building Project. This event was organised by our indefatigable fundraising manager Sr Lily who was so ably assisted by friends of Glencairn Patricia McCarthy and Niamh Cukne.Many friends of the Abbey turned out to support this event in many and varied ways: donations of cakes, breads, time and effort to promote the event together with financial generosity which all came together to create a lively atmosphere and to ensure that the monastery’s building renewal continues to happen! We are particularly grateful to local businesses for their support and particular thanks go to Mario’s coffee shop, main street, Dungarvan who supplied us with delicious freshly ground coffee for the morning made and served by Mario himself on the day.The event also served to make the community at Glencairn better known to our neighbours in Dungarvan in our mission of witnessing to God’s primacy in our monastic life of prayer and praise.
