A first profession of vows

Sister Robert joyfully made her first vows at St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn on December 8th, 2011 in the presence of Mother Abbess, Marie and the whole community at Glencairn. A simple ceremony, taking place in our Chapter room in the Abbey enclosure, where the novice prostrates in her wish to serve God in this monastic life with all her heart, entrusting to the Lord her life and her future happiness as she is led in the ways of the Spirit to deeper intimacy with God.

Sister Robert hails from Kerala, India and is the first Indian woman to complete the two year novitiate programme at Glencairn that prepares a candidate for first profession of vows as a Cistercian nun. We are delighted for Sister Robert and grateful for her courageous and committed gift of herself to our community. We pray for her and ask your prayers for her as Robert undertakes the final years of her initial formation.

We also remember in prayer at this time all our sisters in formation aswell as those who have been in contact with us in 2011 who are discerning their vocation, including those who are aspiring to enter Cistercian life in Glencairn.
