Isaiah used the image of streams gushing in the desert and the thirsty land becoming springs of water to describe the coming of the Lord to save us (Is 35), while St. John uses "living water" as a metaphor for the life offered by Jesus (Jn 4). This song applies these images to Mary, essential instrument in the Incarnation of the Word.

Like rivers in the desert, like springs from the rock,
new hope came through Mary when the Word became flesh and our humanity regained its former glory.
Blessed Mary, spring of new hope, from your son flow the waters of life,
1. The song of the spring will glorify the Lord.
2. The freshness of the clear, cooling spring will quench our burning thirst.
3. This river in our desert will fill our hearts with joy.
